Reaching right ones
When my friends ask why I’m more active on X than on other social media platforms, especially with just 100+ followers, I can’t help but think about how everyone’s caught up in this numbers game. People say things like, “Oh, I only have 12 likes on this photo,” or “I’ve only got 50 followers,” or “I got just 7 comments on this post.” But let’s put that into perspective—imagine if 12 people in real life liked a photo you took, if 50 friends consistently kept up with what you’re doing, or if 7 people complimented your outfit in person. That’s actually pretty amazing.
The thing is, social media has twisted our sense of what really matters. We’ve started to measure success by numbers instead of the quality of connections we make. it’s about reaching serious readers—people who truly get what I’m saying. If there are more of them, great. But even if it’s a smaller group, it’s still valuable.
I remember a acclaimed Marathi writer once told me that if a book has a circulation of more than 300 copies, it’s considered a success. That’s something I always keep in mind. It’s not about reaching everyone; it’s about reaching the right people
